Why Miami Is Perfect for VoltShare

The sun never stops in South Florida — and neither should your EV.

☀️

Year-Round Sunshine

With 250+ sunny days annually, Miami solar panels produce surplus energy 12 months a year — not just in summer. That surplus can power your EV instead of going back to the grid.

🚌

Booming EV Market

Miami ranks among the top 5 US metro areas for EV ownership. Tesla ownership in Coral Gables, Brickell, and Coconut Grove is among the highest in the country — demand is here.

🏠

Affluent Coastal Communities

Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, and Palmetto Bay are packed with solar-equipped homes and EV owners. The infrastructure is already there — VoltShare connects the dots.

💲

High Electricity Costs

FPL rates have climbed steadily. Solar homeowners who export to the grid earn very little. VoltShare lets them earn more by sharing directly with neighbors — and saves drivers money too.

How It Works

Two ways to participate — charge or share.

For EV Drivers
For Solar Hosts
1

Find a host near you

Browse local Miami solar homeowners with available chargers in your neighborhood — Brickell, Coconut Grove, South Beach, Coral Gables, and beyond.

2

Pull up and plug in

Arrive at the agreed time, plug in your EV, and charge for 30 minutes using clean rooftop solar energy — no app required, no corporate middleware.

3

Pay $5, drive clean

Venmo or Zelle the host directly. Done. Cheaper than any public charger in Miami and 100% solar-powered. Your neighbor earns, you save, the grid wins.

1

List your solar charger

Sign up and tell us about your solar setup, charger type, and availability. Takes 2 minutes. You set your own hours — no commitments.

2

Share your surplus energy

Instead of sending excess solar back to FPL for pennies, share it directly with a Miami neighbor who needs a charge. Better rate, better impact.

3

Earn real money

$5 per 30-minute session, paid directly to you. You control your schedule and pricing. Turn your rooftop into a neighborhood charging station.

Miami FAQ

Questions specific to the Miami market.

Does VoltShare work during hurricane season? +
Yes — VoltShare works year-round in Miami. During storm preparations or after an event, charging demand actually spikes. Hosts can pause their availability anytime, and we build in flexibility for South Florida weather patterns. Solar systems in Miami are increasingly designed to withstand hurricane-force conditions.
Can I charge a Tesla in Miami through VoltShare? +
Absolutely. Tesla is the most popular EV brand in Miami. If a host has a Tesla Wall Connector, you can plug in directly. If they have a Level 2 (J1772) charger, Tesla owners just need a J1772 adapter (included with most Teslas). We'll always show you the charger type before you arrive.
I live in a condo in Brickell — can I still participate? +
As a condo resident, hosting isn't currently possible (no private charger access), but you can absolutely join as a driver and find hosts in nearby neighborhoods like Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami. We're also exploring partnerships with residential HOAs in Brickell and Miami Beach for shared charging pods — sign up and we'll keep you updated.
How does VoltShare compare to public chargers at Whole Foods or the Design District? +
Public Level 2 chargers in Miami typically run $1.50–$3.00 per hour, plus the hassle of competing for spots. VoltShare hosts charge $5 for a dedicated 30-minute session — no waiting, no apps, no subscription fees. You're paying a neighbor directly, getting 100% solar energy, and supporting someone in your community instead of a charging corporation.
